What do you do?

The Southwest Washington Agency on Aging and Disabilities (SWAAD) promotes independence, choice, well-being, and dignity for persons aged 60 and over, adults with disabilities and their families through a comprehensive coordinated system of home and community based services.

When I speak with you is my information safe?

Senior Information and Assistance will collect personal information for referrals and demographic reporting purposes.  Your information will NOT be shared or sold to any third party.  The SWAAD operated under federal confidentiality rules known as HIPPA.

How do I get set up on in-home services?

For Medicaid you will need to contact Home and Community Services for screening/intake and assessment.

For non-Medicaid you will contact Senior Information and Assistance for screening/intake.

How much will I pay for services?

For intake/screening and to speak with a specialist there is NO cost.  There may be a cost/participation depending on the agencies referred to or the services set up.

How do I get a Case Manager?

Contact Senior Information and Assistance to determine which program may be an option for you and we will make the appropriate referral.

What is the age requirement for services?

Most “senior” services are for 60 and over, but we encourage you to contact Senior Information and Assistance to determine eligibility for services.

Who oversees the SWAAD?

A Council of Governments made up of commissioners from each of the five represented counties.

How do I get set up on Meals on Wheels?

For Clark County Meals on Wheels/Home Delivered Meals are run by Loaves and Fishes Centers. 

For all other counties contact their Senior Information and Assistance office.

How do I get Family Caregiver Services and who are they available for?

A Family Caregiver is anyone over the age of 18 who is providing care for a friend or family member.  There are several types of family caregiver services.  A few examples are; Respite, Powerful Tools caregiver training, support groups and day care services.

How do I get Kinship services?

The Kinship Program/Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program is run through the Children’s Home Society.  They can be reached at 360-695-1325

Each program has different eligibility requirements.  Contact Senior Information and Assistance for any specific questions regarding eligibility.
