How to Report Elder Abuse
Do you suspect a vulnerable adult may be a victim of elder abuse?
Who is a Vulnerable Adult?
- a person 60 years of age or older who lacks the functional, physical, or mental ability to care for him or herself;
- an adult with a developmental disability
- an adult with a legal guardian
- an adult living in a long-term care facility (an adult family home, boarding home or nursing home);
- an adult living in their own or family’s home receiving services from an agency or contracted individual provider; or
- an adult self-directing their care
There are several types of abuse:
- Physical
- Sexual
- Mental Mistreatment or Emotional
- Exploitation
- Neglect
- Self-Neglect
- Abandonment
