How to Report Elder Abuse

Do you suspect a vulnerable adult may be a victim of elder abuse?

Who is a Vulnerable Adult?

  • a person 60 years of age or older who lacks the functional, physical, or mental ability to care for him or herself;
  • an adult with a developmental disability
  • an adult with a legal guardian
  • an adult living in a long-term care facility (an adult family home, boarding home or nursing home);
  • an adult living in their own or family’s home receiving services from an agency or contracted individual provider; or
  • an adult self-directing their care

There are several types of abuse:

  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Mental Mistreatment or Emotional
  • Exploitation
  • Neglect
  • Self-Neglect
  • Abandonment
